Job Summary
The African Wildlife Foundation, Cameroon Office, has initiated a Young Graduate Professional Internship Programme to offer an opportunity to young graduates to gain experience and to familiarize with the non-governmental organization environment.
The Finance and Administration Intern will carry out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas Files and verifies a wide variety of accounting documents such as invoices, programme billings, employee reimbursements, cash receipts, vendor statements, and journal vouchers. review and code financial information. prepare and process documents to disburse funds, make deposits. The role will require a self-motivated individual, capable of working with minimum supervision, with high numerical accuracy, and demonstrate high levels of integrity, confidentiality, and good work ethics.
Responsibilities
- Enter, assign codes to data. update, and/or retrieve accounting data from automated systems,
- Ensure timely recording and processing of vendor invoices in accounting system.
- Assist in monitoring vendor advances and other receivables and ensure timely clearance of vendor outstanding items, reply to vendor claims and take actions when required.
- Prepare necessary receipts and journal vouchers. Record accounting data accurately and timely in the accounting system
- Assist in the preparation of budget, accounting, financial reports, statistical reports and other reports as required.
- Assist in the Trial Balance cleansing of various accounts
- Assist all staff services such as travel, expense claims, document retrieval, etc.
- Assist in external and internal audits with auditor’s support document request
- Prepare all request for payments and process payments
- Assist in monthly tax payment and declaration to CNPS and taxation and ensure receipt of quittance
- Assist in the reporting process by printing and assembling data and documents for monthly reports and submit to review.
- Assist in maintaining the contract management follow-up folder for AWF Cameroon
- Perform other related duties as required

Requirements and skills
- Degree in Accounting/Finance or a related field and a professional accounting qualification, such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA) is required.
- Proficiency in the use of MS Office applications, particularly advanced level in MS excel is required.
- Experience in using an ERP system is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping terminology and practices.
- Knowledge of automated accounting systems
- Knowledge of spreadsheets and database software.
- Knowledge of general record keeping and filing systems.
- Ability to understand and apply current accounting guidelines, system updates and revisions, and policy changes.
- Ability to reconcile and/or balance financial transactions and accounts.
- Ability to assist others in solving work problems.
- High ethics and a personal commitment to transparency and accountability.
