The U.S. Mission in Yaoundé, Cameroon is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the Political/Economic Assistant and Grants Coordinator Position in the Political/Economic Section.
Incumbent is expected to periodically visit ongoing and closed out projects, entailing travel outside of Yaoundé approximately once per quarter.
Under the supervision of the Political/Economic Chief or the Deputy Political/Economic Chief, the Political/Economic Assistant and Grants Coordinator will research and report on developments in the field of political and economic reporting, and is responsible for directing both the implementation and management of Pol/Econ administered development assistance programs. The incumbent’s responsibilities include preparing draft political and economic reporting cables on domestic and regional issues of importance to the United States. The incumbent will serve as a note taker when required and prepare materials (including memcons, reporting telegrams, talking points, and correspondence) for senior Embassy officials. He or she may provide daily work guidance to local staff. This is a full-time position and requires a Secret-level clearance.
All selected candidates must be able to obtain and hold a SECRET level Clearance.

A bachelor’s degree in economics, international relations, political science, public policy, environmental studies, or equivalent is required.

Experience: At least two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in a government agency, NGO, company, university, media, or diplomatic establishment is required.
(Please note that one (1) creditable year of experience is equal to 40/week x 52 weeks, or 2080 hours)
Language: Fluency (Reading/Writing/Speaking) in English is required. This may be tested.
Knowledge: A good knowledge of, or previous experience with project management concepts, principles, and techniques. Prior experience with or knowledge of program/project implementation and/or monitoring.
Skills And Abilities: Must possess MS Office skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Proven facilitator, initiator, and team worker with effective leadership, organizational and communication skills; good management skills. Good judgment skills.
