Job Purpose
Responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of financial results of the company to all interested groups, ensuring compliance with relevant local legislation and supporting the strategic objectives of the company. To coordinate the overall financial accounting process and ensure effective and efficient accounting and reporting of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory, Fixed Assets, TE, Inter-company and General accounting.
Principal accountabilities:
Operational/Technical/Professional Results
Financial accounting, reporting and General Ledger management:
Ensure all financial transactions are recorded in line with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Review the GL and Trial balance on a regular basis to confirm the accuracy of balances in the ledgers and sub-ledgers, the ageing of open items, and prepare relevant account analysis for the purpose of TB reviews and presentation to stakeholders.
Statutory tax audits:
Manage the conduct, review and closure of statutory audits (interim and final) as well as tax audits (and other regulatory audits that involve the review of financials record) in a manner that ensures audit reports reflect a true and accurate view of the company's financial transactions and records for the periods under review.
Order to cash credit management:
Manage and report on supply and billing of customers within the credit limits approved by the credit committee and ensuring collection from customers in line with the credit/payment terms contractually agreed.
Review the performance durations of each customer and ensure the appropriate credit limit maintained for the customers.
Manage the customer accounts to avoid overdues and/or credit exposures for BAT.
Carry out a financial health check of key distributors to ensure they are solvent and that there is no risk to their ability to continue to operate as a 'going concern'.
Inventory and fixed asset management:
Management of the company's inventory, carrying out a regular inventory count in collaboration with other stakeholders, reconciling physical counts with ERP records, monitory durations to ensure alignment with stockholding policy, and proactively managing the risk of stock write off.
Management of fixed assets, ensuring that they are physically counted and agreed to the theoretical fixed assets register and relevant control accounts in the general ledger.
Internal controls compliance:
On time and in full compliance with all SOx requirements, BAT Internal audit requirements, BAT Internal Control Policies, Delegation of Authority matrices and Workflow reviews.
Be the finance contact in the company for all matters relating to Finance
Leadership Results
Develop motivating initiatives to energize the team members and build up a teamwork spirit.
Provide a proactive support to finance and non-finance personnel in order to improve the overall controls environment.
Management Results
To have an improved controls environment in all financial accounting sub-processes as measured by the key performance indicators.
To ensure shared services operating procedures and control systems are developed and implemented through the company to provide robust control mechanisms.
To ensure shared services dashboard is green for the market covered
Stay abreast of latest development of local regulation and ensure full compliance by due date
To ensure that financial accounting audit recommendations are timely, effectively and efficiently implemented.

Lead the relationship with all internal and external stakeholders to improve the function's and the Company's corporate image.
Build and Maintain lasting relationships with all leaders in the company to facilitate a smooth running of financial accounting activities.
Innovation Results
Lead the optimisation of systems and work processes to drive productivity, costs reduction and work effort savings.
To assist in eliminating non value-adding activities and review processes, practices and methods to find new ways of doing things.

The Job holder reports to the Senior Cluster Finance Manager and is in charge to provide financial support to BAT Cameroon BAT Gabon (legal entities) as well as supporting the marketing function in Equatorial Guinea, were we operate via a distributor. He coordinates the overall financial accounting activities and ensures stakeholders satisfaction.
